Department of Mass Communication, (SCADMS) is Organizing 5-days training Workshop on Mobile Journalism| January 7-11, 2019 @ Old VC Board Room, Block 2

Department of Mass Communication, School of Creative Art, Design and Media Studies (SACDMS) has organized 5-days training workshop for its faculty, staff and students in collaboration with Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany’s public international broadcasters till January 11, 2019.

The workshop hols 15 participants including 5 faculties, staff and 10 students of BA(J&MC) and MA(J&MC) final year.

The trainer of the workshop is Ms. Gwendolin Hilse. With a degree in International Media Studies, Ms. Gwendolin has worked for different media houses in Germany and Ghana. Since 2014 she worked for the Africa department of DW as reporter, editor, video, multimedia and radio journalist. She has produced a TV Magazine The 77 Percent – a multimedia African youth magazine which will be aired as TV magazine from March 2019. Ms. Hilse’s work was screened on the International Science Film Festival by Goethe Institute. She wrote her Master thesis on Mobile Journalism in Nigeria, comparing the work of the BBC Hausa Service with the work of a Nigerian TV station.

It has been a persistent endeavor of the Mass communication department to provide a platform for the aspiring media students to interact with prominent resource persons from industry.

Objective of Event:

Students will learn to communicate effectively, how to demonstrate proficiency in written work and the ability to effectively apply oral presentation techniques in television setup. Students will understand how to develop their creative voices and the importance of media writing. Also with the launch of various news channels, both on TV and Radio, their is a burgeoning demand for dynamic presenters/newsreaders/anchors/RJs and voice-over artists, who will enter the world of Opinion Makers. This Special Lecture Session will enrich them will the required knowledge.

Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, School of Basic Sciences & Research (SBS&R) is going to organize a ‘Hands-on training on ChemSketch & Origin Software” for final year students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Chemistry and Biochemistry) on 15th Jan 2019.

About the event

The drawing of chemical formulae/reaction schemes and presenting the experimental results is a repetitive task for chemists on all levels of their education. While hand-sketching and plotting is most efficiently used during discussions and learning, neat drawings and clear graphical representations are required for official reports, publications, and theses. Such drawings and plots can be created with computer software like ChemSketch and Origin respectively.

In this event students will be given training on both of these software through the following modules:

 Module 1 – How to draw the Chemical structures/reaction schemes using “ChemSketch”
Module 2 – How to plot/compare the graphs from a large experimental data using “Origin”

The Department of Life Sciences, School of Basic Sciences & Research (SBSR) is organizing an Industry visit to Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd. for its B.Sc Biotechnology final year students on 16th January 2019.

Yakult Danone India Pvt Ltd manufactured at an ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001:2007 and is HACCP certified factory in Sonepat, Haryana in North India. The factory is designed as per international standards and special care. It is a joint venture of three companies belonging to Japan-France-India respectively.

Yakult is a fermented milk drink that contains over 6.5 billion probiotic bacteria – Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota. A delicious probiotic drink that helps improve digestion due to beneficial bacteria. These bacteria reach the intestine alive and suppress the growth of harmful bacteria. Yakult helps to maintain a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria in the gut. This probiotic drink was launched in India in 2007.

The Factory Visit tour comprises of:

  • Presentation on ‘Science of probiotics’
  • An overview of ‘Manufacturing Process of Yakult’

The duration of the session at the factory is approx. 1.5 hrs.

Education of villagers thorough a rally on “BetiBachao, BetiPadhao” on the occasion of National Girl Child Day Celebrated on 24th of January every year and to deliver knowledge among school girls and their colleagues from nearby villages regarding safe hygiene during menstruation. Also, to encourage and boost the morale of the villagers and young children towards having a girl child as daughters and sisters as they are the pride of the country.
