Design competition – THE LOCKDOWN DESIGN CHALLENGE for SAP Students

School of Architecture and Planning and Department of Design have jointly taken up a great initiative to utilize the school’s design potentials and seeks to see this lockdown as an opportunity and hope. The departments have initiated a design competition – THE LOCKDOWN DESIGN CHALLENGE, Design from your home for your home.

Objectives of Event: 


Covid -19 has indefinitely got us locked up in our homes and has been challenging and has been very different for each one of us. Though it’s a big pause, yet it’s an opportunity for designers to observe their immediate surroundings in a way we have never done before and come up with innovative design solutions to make their homes more comfortable. All the outstanding designs, as finalized by the jury shall be incubated to be realized as a prototype and further have the designs registered through SHARDA UNIVERSITY with THE PATENT OFFICE, Government of India.

While she worked for more than ten years in the commercial design industry as an expert graphic designer, she has participated in the interdisciplinary neighborhood community developing projects and started exploring the role of design for social innovation. Currently, she has joined a social start-up in Berlin called Dycle which aims to bring a circular economy and sustainable impact.

Day: 2 – Lukas BüdenbenderAs an architect, Lukas has worked in various fields, ranging from interior design to the development of projects for institutional buildings, with a special focus on the historical heritage field and on wooden projects and buildings. Always conscious over the matter of constructability, Lukas has always focused on executive projects and problem solving approaches, seeking to bring into reality what lies within the scope of ideas.

Such a quest finds depth in his academic endeavors, where the focus of the discussion about education is the conductive line. For his Diploma Thesis, Lukas developed a proposal for an Architecture School that took into consideration the conception of the human being through the perspective of the Anthroposophy. For his Master Thesis, Lukas dealt with the conceptions concerning the human being and their relation to the role of art and aesthetics in the developments of Schiller, Moholy-Nagy, and Steiner.

The theme for the poster competition is “Short and Long term effects of Cyclones on Agro-Ecosystems”.
For farmers, the potential devastation from a cyclone can be monumental with their livelihood tied up in their crops and little they can do to protect them from the weather. To care for ourselves we must care for nature. So with this message lets celebrate the Day and create awareness through posters.
