International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8th March. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action.

About the theme:

“She” refers to a woman. “She” is you, your daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, best friend, co-worker, boss and so on and so forth. This event will showcase the problems faced by women and also encourage creating and adapting a new mindset and transforming into a belief that empowers.

About the Event:

Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development of any country. The economy becomes more productive, innovative and competitive through the existence of more skilled human potential. Women are the most vibrant and dynamic segment as well as potentially the most valuable human resources. However, despite phenomenal capabilities, Indian women are not actively participating in the decision making of family, workplace, and community. Women who lack in knowledge and skills become vulnerable to cycles of illiteracy, poverty, and abuse. In this context, the students of the physiotherapy department are doing a street plays Vocational Education and Training can make a big difference for many of the rural women by improving household productivity, employability, and income-earning opportunities and also for enhancing food security and promoting environmentally sustainable development and livelihoods.

  • To empower women to be skilled, self-dependent and confident to generate livelihood and support their families.
  • Women equality in power-sharing and active participation in decision making by economically empowering them

Women’s rights and gender equality are taking center stage in 2020. As per the UN, this year’s theme for International Women’s Day (8 March) is, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”.
The Generation Equality campaign is bringing together people of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion, and country, to drive actions that will create the gender-equal world we all deserve.
