SBS is Organising a Rangoli Making Competition | SBS | 23rd October 2019 @ Reception Area, Block -07, Sharda University

The Cultural Activities Club of School of Business Studies, Sharda University is organising a Rangoli Making Competition on 23rd October 2019 in Block-07, Sharda University.

Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. Designs are passed from one generation to the next, keeping both the art form and the tradition alive. Design depictions may also vary as they reflect traditions, folklore, and practices that are unique to each area.  Generally this art is showcased during occasions such as festivals, auspicious observances, marriage, celebrations and other similar milestones and gatherings in the Indian subcontinent. Rangoli & Thali decoration  is used to “enlighten “ or to welcome and it is thought to bring good luck.

Judging Criteria: Judging will be based on the following Criteria-

  1. Overall Appearance and appeal
  2. Design/Theme
  3. Details and Clarity in Rangoli making
  4. Color combination
  5. Creativity, New ideas


  1. First Three winners will we awarded  prize.
  2. Consolation prizes also will be awarded as Token of Appreciation.
  3. Certificate of Appreciation will be given to all the participants.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Rangoli design should not exceed the size of 3 ft x 3 ft
  2. A group may have not more than three participants.
  3. Rangoli making duration is from 12PM. to 3PM.  Rangoli  design should be completed ready for judging by 3 p.m
  4. Participants need to bring all the required materials for Rangoli making themselves.
  5. Participants may use rangoli colours,  colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals etc.
