One-week Onsite Training Program on Skill Development of Artisans | 27th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020

Sharda University along with Mon Ami Foundation and Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha is organizing a One-week Onsite Training Program on Skill Development of Artisans as a part of the Livelihood Enhancement Project focused on moonj grass products to be held from 27th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020.

The domestic retail market in India has been growing rapidly over the last decade and opportunities to sell in mainstream markets have increased considerably for Indian craftspeople. Indian Handicrafts sector engages more than 7 million craftsperson from all over India and numerous categories of handicrafts, gifts, and decorative items are produced from various forms of raw material. The Indian handicrafts have the great potentiality of exports in the International market. However, professional systems and expertise are required within crafts organizations to be able to connect to mainstream markets in a commercially sustainable manner.

This program, thus, seeks to help artisans learn new skills that may help them produce better crafts and adjust to fast-changing market demands by providing them with an understanding of the market, clients, and aptitude required to deal with the customers.


  • To help the artisans understand the factors involved in the costing and pricing of the product.
  • To help the artisans be able to understand where production costs can be cut down.
  • To help the artisans be able to determine a correct sales price
  • To help the artisans understand glossary of terms used by commercial buyers and importers
  • To help the artisans be able to plan business over the long run
  • To help the artisans develop market intelligence
