School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) Sharda University is planning to conduct a Professional Development Program on “Ambiguities of urban design” for faculty members on 23rd Oct. 2020 (Friday).
Objectives of Event:
This lecture will discuss those aspects of urban design which have caused ambiguity among academics and professionals and looks for a definition that addresses these uncertainties. The areas of confusion and ambiguity, are analyzed in seven arenas: the scale of urban fabric which urban design addresses; visual or spatial emphases; spatial or social emphases; the relationship between process and product in city design; the relationship between different professionals and their activities; public or private sector affiliations and design as an objective-rational or subjective-irrational process. This examination will show how to clarify the definition of urban design, its roles and areas of involvement.
