Overview
The Pro Bono Club of the Legal Aid Society, Sharda School of Law, Sharda University, is commemorating AZADI UTSAV – 2026, during the entire month of August to cherish and take pride in India’s 80th year of independence. The celebration comprises organizing a series of meaningful awareness, educational, and community-oriented activities. The initiative seeks to reflect on constitutional rights, fundamental duties, democratic values, national unity, and citizens’ responsibilities in building a progressive and inclusive India.
As part of this Utsav, a range of myriad activities are being organised for diverse sections of the society namely, 1. A psychological counselling session and celebration of the worth of independence at the (government) Juvenile Observation Homes for Boys and Girls respectively; 2. An interactive literacy programme on rights, duties & responsibilities of citizens for primary school children; 3. A lecture on constitutional values for professionals; 4. A visit to Prime Minister’s Museum; and 5. An essay writing competition on ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’. Through these activities, the aim is to promote constitutional literacy, freedom from mental distress, responsible citizenship, nationalist thinking, and social awareness, while encouraging participants to connect the idea of freedom with the values of justice, equality, dignity, fraternity, and civic responsibility.
As part of this month-long celebration, the Juvenile Justice Wing of the Pro Bono Club, Legal Aid Society, Sharda School of Law, Sharda University, is organising a special session on freedom and patriotism at the (government) Juvenile Observation Home (for boys), Gautam Buddha Nagar. The celebration shall include apprising the delinquents of the ethos of independence and instilling in them a sense of national pride, unity, and civic responsibility.
Objectives of Event
- To formally introduce the Boys’s Juvenile Justice Wing (Term: 2601) and establish a friendly and supportive rapport with the juveniles through interactive ice-breaking activities.
- To celebrate the spirit of independence through an ‘Azadi Utsav’ featuring patriotic games, competitions, and interactive group activities that foster nationalism, values, and responsible citizenship.
- To strengthen collaboration between the Schools’s Legal Aid Society and the Juvenile Observation Home Institution in promoting the welfare and rehabilitation of these delinquents.
- To inculcate empathy, social responsibility, and practical understanding of the juvenile justice system amongst law students.
