About the Event

 

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science and Clinical Research, Sharda School of Allied Health Sciences, is pleased to propose an Educational and Clinical Visit to Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for BMLT students on 11 September 2026.

The visit aims to provide students with valuable practical exposure to the hospital and clinical laboratory environment. It will help students understand the functioning of different laboratory departments, sample collection and processing, diagnostic procedures, laboratory equipment, quality control, biosafety, and biomedical waste management. The visit will also enable students to relate their theoretical knowledge with real-life clinical practices and gain a better understanding of the professional responsibilities of Medical Laboratory Technologists.

Such educational and clinical visits provide meaningful experiential learning and help students connect their academic curriculum with real-life clinical practice, thereby preparing them for their future roles in the healthcare and diagnostic laboratory sector.

Objectives of Event

1.       To provide BMLS students with an opportunity to observe the day-to-day functioning of a hospital and its clinical laboratory services.

2.       To strengthen students’ practical knowledge, technical understanding, professional skills, and clinical awareness through direct exposure to a hospital setting.

3.       To familiarize students with the professional responsibilities, ethical practices, and expected standards of Medical Laboratory Technologists in a hospital environment.

4.       To understand the role of a government hospital laboratory in supporting patient diagnosis, treatment, and public healthcare services.

5.       To familiarize students with the workflow, workload, and functioning of clinical laboratories in a high-volume government healthcare setting.

6.       To provide exposure to standard diagnostic facilities, modern laboratory instruments, and quality assurance practices followed in routine patient care.

7.       To develop students’ professional competence, clinical confidence, and awareness of the responsibilities and challenges faced by Medical Laboratory Technologists.
