Overview

“From Practitioner to Professional: Navigating the Nascent Years of a Legal Career” is a lecture series organised by Sharda School of Law, Sharda University. It aims to help fourth- and fifth-year law students understand the early years of professional practice. As part of this series, Ms. Chhavi Pande, Partner at Khurana & Khurana law firm, will deliver a lecture on the topic: - “Building a Career in Law Firm Practice: Opportunities, Skills and Career Pathways.” The session will be held on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.

The lecture will offer practical insights into building a law firm career, particularly during the first five years after graduation. It will cover practice areas, career pathways, workplace expectations, essential legal skills, professional ethics, client relationships, and the role of technology in legal services. Drawing on Ms. Pande’s experience, the session will guide students on preparing for internships, recruitment, and long-term career growth.

Objectives of Event

  • To familiarise students with different practice areas and career pathways within law firms.
  • To help students understand the transition from law school to professional practice and the expectations from young associates.
  • To introduce students to essential drafting and client-management skills required in law firm practice.
  • To guide students in preparing for internships and careers in law firms.
  • To provide practical insights into career progression during the first five years after graduation.

She brings over 20 years of legal experience in litigation, banking and commercial disputes, employment and labour law, arbitration, intellectual property-related agreements, and legal advisory. She is also an experienced POSH trainer and external member of Internal Complaints Committees.
