Overview

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds globally (WHO, 2026). With the directives of WHO, the World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on 10 September every year to raise awareness about suicide prevention, promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage communities to work collectively towards creating environments where individuals feel safe to seek help and talk openly about emotional distress. 

SSHSS in collaboration with Abhivyakti Wellness Clinic & Counselling Cell’ proposes to organize a “Poster Making Competition” for the students of Sharda University on the WHO theme of ““Changing the Narrative on Suicide  * ‘start the Conversation” for 2026 so as to encourage students to express their thoughts, ideas, feelings and emotions about mental health concerns & suicide on the WHO theme for WSPD, 2026, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,”

Objectives of Event

•POSTER MAKING is a form of Expressive Art that can be an effective way to encourage students to express their ideas, thoughts, emotions & perception about mental health and suicide.

•This will sensitize the student, faculties & staff at Sharda University about Mental Health issues & suicide Prevention.

•To encourage a shift from silence, stigma, judgment and misconceptions about Suicide.

•To yield youth towards openness, empathy, understanding and meaningful conversations about mental health concerns for Suicide prevention.
