Overview

Department of Biotechnology, Sharda School of Bio-Science & Technology (SSBT) is organizing a CSXO Talk on “Bridging the Gap: From Academic Learning to Industry & Entrepreneurship” on 3rd November 2026.

This talk aims to provide the B.Tech Biotechnology students with valuable insights into the transition from academic learning to professional careers and entrepreneurship. The session will focus on understanding industry expectations, emerging trends, and diverse career opportunities in the biotechnology sector. It will highlight the importance of developing industry-relevant skills and an entrepreneurial mindset to transform scientific knowledge and research innovations into commercially viable solutions. Students will gain practical insights into the challenges of product development, scalability, and commercialisation. Through the experiences of Dr. Siddhartha Manvati, Co-founder and CEO of Clear Meat, the talk will offer valuable perspectives on innovation, startup development, and entrepreneurial leadership. The session will inspire students to explore new possibilities and prepare themselves for successful careers in the evolving biotechnology industry.

Objectives of Event

By the end of the session, the final-year B.Tech Biotechnology students of Sharda University will be able to:

1. Understand Industry Expectations: Gain insights into the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements, and identify the technical, practical, and professional competencies needed to build a successful career in biotechnology.

2. Explore Career Opportunities in Biotechnology: Understand emerging industry trends, innovations, and career pathways in biotechnology, with insights into the growing sectors of food technology, cellular agriculture, and alternative proteins.

3. Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset: Learn how to translate scientific knowledge, research findings, and innovative ideas into commercially viable products, solutions, and biotechnology-based startups.

4. Gain Practical Industry Insights: Understand the real-world challenges of taking scientific innovations from laboratory research to industrial applications, including product development, scalability, funding, and commercialisation.

5. Get Inspired by Entrepreneurial Leadership: Gain first-hand insights from a CEO on his entrepreneurial journey, experiences, challenges, and lessons to prepare students for future careers, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the biotechnology sector.
