Overview

Sharda School of Design is organizing an engaging Workshop: “Design Fusion — Where Materials Become Ideas” by Ms. Mamta Lall (Designer). The workshop will focus on exploring the creative possibilities of materials, textures, techniques and interdisciplinary design approaches. Through hands-on experimentation, students will learn how different materials can be transformed, combined and reinterpreted to develop innovative design concepts. The session will encourage students to move beyond conventional applications, strengthen their material understanding, and discover how experimentation and creative thinking can turn materials into meaningful design ideas across different design disciplines.

Objectives of Event

The intended objectives are to:

  1. To provide students with hands-on experience in exploring and experimenting with different materials, textures and techniques as a part of the design process.
  2. To develop an understanding of how materials can inspire ideas and influence the development of creative design concepts.
  3. To encourage students to explore interdisciplinary design approaches by combining materials, techniques and creative processes from different design fields.
  4. To strengthen students’ skills in material exploration, creative thinking, experimentation and problem-solving through practical activities.
  5. To encourage students to move beyond conventional material applications and discover innovative possibilities through layering, fusion, surface development, and material manipulation.
  6. To enable students to translate their ideas into tangible design outcomes while considering aesthetics, functionality, and material characteristics.
